- Raila Odinga's ODM party nominated KNUT's Wilson Sossion to Parliament
- However, Jubilee's Moses Kuria says Sossion gave Raila KSh 300 million for NASA campaigns
- This is a week after the nomination but Sossion said Kuria lied, and was a criminal offense to accuse him of such
News of Kenya National Union of Teachers’ Secretary GeneraL Wilson Sossion’s nomination to parliament stunned many
His name was included in a list of nominees submitted to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission by the Orange Democratic Party on Monday, June 26.
According to prior TUKO.co.ke reports, Sossion was nominated based on two things. First, he hails from Bomet county, one of the NASA strongholds overseen by NASA co-leader and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and second, he was instrumental in championing for the rights of over 300,000 teachers- people NASA believe are the opinion makes at the grass roots level.
Sossion welcomed the nominations, saying he will work diligently to represent all workers considering he wrote to all parties asking them to nominate workers’ representatives to Parliament.
A week later on Sunday, July 2, in so many words, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria insinuated that Sossion bought himself that nomination with KSh 300 million from the Kenya National Union of Teachers.
According to Media Max Network, Kuria was quoted saying he’d writen to the TSC, asking it to stop teachers’ payments to KNUT, claiming Sossion is misusing the funds.
Apparently, according to Kuria, Sossion has been giving NASA the money to fund their campaigns under unclear circumstances.
Speaking on Monday, July 3, Sossion refuted the claims made by the vocal Jubilee MP.
“The assertion is criminal in nature. Our finances are supervised by the registrar of unions,” said Sossion during NASA’s Rift Valley rally as quoted in the Standard.
